I’ve often been asked this question and have pondered over it long and hard. It’s easy to be happy when life is good and everything’s going my way. But when life gets complicated, when I feel overwhelmed or experience grief, it’s easy to give up and question the pursuit of happiness. To me, it’s really a choice, an attitude towards life. And it comes with taking charge of my own life and being grateful for what I already have.
Here are what my fellow coaches and facilitators say about happiness:
Happiness to me means family & friends, seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces; to be able to give thanks for all that God has blessed us with; to be able to give and touch the lives of others; to be able to live a purposeful life.
– Catherine DePadua
Happiness is having the freedom to choose what I want and to be able to laugh when I don’t get what I want.
– Yap Swee Pheng
Happiness to me is being truly content, although not complacent, with life no matter what the current circumstances may be.
– Cheryl Wong
Happiness is seeing others happy and eating anything made or covered with dark chocolate.

Some days ago my children found caterpillars in our lime plant. They put two into a vented glass box, added leaves and moisture. Surprisingly the caterpillars cocooned. Days passed and nothing happened. We actually forgot about them. One morning we were greeted by the beauty of metamorphosis. This is happiness to me.

Happiness is to have RM 12,386,439 in my bank account tomorrow.
– Kenny Lum
Happiness is when I can sit with myself, without any expectations, complaints, grudges. Peace & gratitude. That’s what makes me truly happy from within.
– Annie Tan
Happiness is being on the playground Spinning Wheel with my kids. It’s a great analogy for life isn’t it? We find ourselves spinning, sometimes at top speed, feeling unbalanced, yet we can laugh and enjoy the experience with our loved ones.
– Karen Mae Narian
I’m in good company in believing that happiness is really a journey and not a destination. May you enjoy your journey on the road to happiness.
